<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been identified as a key competence that helps people to relate with one another easily. As such, EI coupled with IQ makes one a star performer at the workplace. Therefore, students need to possess both EI and IQ. For this reason, a descriptive study was conducted to assess the EI levels of IIT students at IIT (ISM)-Dhanbad, India. The analysis was done in two folds; first, to assess the EI levels of the participants. Secondly, to compare the EI levels of the participants using demographic variables. The purposive sampling technique was used to sample 200 engineering students from various engineering departments. The study results unveiled that students from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad were somewhat emotionally intelligent. Also, when the demographic variables were assessed, it was revealed that gender and age were not statistically significant on EI which means that gender and age does not affect a person’s EI. Albeit, in this study, work experience and family income were statistically significant on EI which implied that a person’s work experience and family income could affect their EI. When the EI levels of these participants are developed and improved, they will thrive and succeed both at the workplace, college and in life as a whole as their EI levels are significantly high.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>эмоциональный интеллект</kwd><kwd>студенты технологического института</kwd><kwd>образование</kwd><kwd>Индия</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>emotional intelligence</kwd><kwd>IIT students</kwd><kwd>education</kwd><kwd>India</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="en">Sincere appreciation to my co-author for her unending support in preparing the manuscript.</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Ahmad, S., Bangash, H., &amp; Khan, S.
